Nike CCS Project
In these projects students were directly mentored by Nike designers on site at CCS and through web based video conferencing. These projects challenged students to work in interdisciplinary design teams consisting of Product design students, Graphic design students and Photography students, to create Innovative Footwear for NCAA Michigan College Basketball Teams and Olympic Event Specific Footwear.
CCS Product Design Team for University of Detroit
Product Design Students worked with the U of D basket ball team to establish the specific player performance needs of traction, fit and support. The visual inspiration for the footwear proposals were derived from player profiles, team rituals, U of D culture and context. The designers distributed surveys to the players asking them about their style of play and personal profiles. To enrich the designers understanding of the players, they ate meals with the players, attended fraternity events with them, and photographically documented a day in the life, on and off the court.

Michigan State Basketball Shoe Design
The CCS Product Design team worked with the MSU Basketball players to establish the performance needs of their shoes; Lightweight, Cushioning, Flexability and Support were addressed. Each of the shoes focused on one specific performance need to drive the visual aesthetic. The design team created visual branding and aesthetic soul through the use of colors and details that were significant to the MSU basketball players, their sport culture and history.
